Taylor Swift Red Tour 8/24

The Taylor Swift featuring Ed Sheeran Concert was easily one of the most beautiful and magical nights of my life thanks to Josie Blandino (my best friend Gabby's mom). I have been obsessed with Taylor Swift since about the age of 14 which was around the time when I was starting to experience liking boys and sadly getting into relationships. I look back now and think what the hell was I thinking?! I was so young, fragile, and innocent.  But like every other teenager, "We do what we want because we know what's best for us." If there are any young ones out there listen to people who have experience and wait. Don't look for a relationship, this is the time where you should be having fun with your friends and experiencing your youth. You will never get this time back, you have the rest of your life to find love. ANYWAYS, sorry for that.. but I had to. Experiencing love and heartbreak are definitely experiences you most likely never forget because they can change so much of who you are as a person. Relationships can either make you a better person or they can destroy you, leaving you with shattered pieces scattered across the floor to pick back up all alone. Thankfully, Taylor Swift has gone through some of the same relationship experiences and girls all around the world can relate to her lyrics. Music is so powerful because when you can't express how you're feeling; you could listen to a song with just the right lyrics and suddenly you had that exact same experience and it's almost as if you wrote that song your self because it showed exactly how you felt. Girls who have experienced love and heartbreak all around the world can relate to Taylor Swift and her music, helping them deal with their heartbreak and pain. I remember in high school sitting in my room replaying Last Kiss by Taylor Swift over and over again probably at least 10 times a day, AT LEAST. And although it took me a really long time to get over the heart break and depression I did and listening to Taylor's music helped me so much. Even though I was still hurting, singing her music always made me feel better. Her music is so authentic and genuine and her lyrics really did help me through some of the darkest times in high school.  Going to this concert was such a huge deal for me I had seen Taylor Swift perform before at Jingle Ball at the Nokia theatre but that was just a small set with other performers. This concert was finally an actual full Taylor Swift set, and at the Staples Center, I couldn't believe I was actually going. It was an amazing night with Gabby and Jasmine. It was a night filled with a load of screams, watery tears, and just so much emotion.  Oh my god, I totally forgot to talk about KING ED. Ed Sheeran is just so magical as well and writes such  beautiful music. I wasn't just seeing Taylor Swift I was seeing them both in one night! I really couldn't handle the experience and kept questioning what my life was that night. If you're around me you will most likely always here me say, "OMG WHAT IS MY LIFE?" that usually means I'm really excited about something and I really can't handle what ever is going on because it's to much to handle and beyond my excitement. You get the point, I was really excited. Ed Sheeran opened up the show singing all of my favorite songs and just killed it. Later on Taylor Swift came on and sang all of my favorite songs and Gabby and I were basically losing our heads jumping and screaming our lives away to every upbeat song. While tearing up, crying, and feeling at peace with her softer songs that had a lot of meaning to us. The music hit are hearts and we were so in love with the night. Each night of the Red Tour Taylor Swift would bring about a surprise guest and I was so so so happy went on the last day of the La tour because she brought out the legend Jennifer Lopez and they sang one of my favorite throwback classics Jenny from the Block it was just so so good, and that's when I basically died and came back to life. They slayed the stage with their body rolls, dancing, and singing it was easily one of the best moments of my life.

I still cant believe how amazing of a night I had! I literally have the best second mom ever thanks for getting us tickets as well as AMAZING SEATS. Most importantly, thanks for a night I will never forget, I love you Josie!

My Recycled Dresser!

My sister Carolina Gamez and I purchased this dresser off of craigslist for only $50 in Palm Springs! We bought it about a year ago right before I was off to Santa Monica for college and I was in need of some furniture for my very first apartment.  I don't like to spend a lot of money on furniture, and being a college student, I don't have the extra money to spend on brand new furniture. Brand new furniture can be very expensive to buy, so why spend all that money, when you can pick up something for half price if not free, and make it a brand new piece of furniture yourself! We bought this dresser along with a beautiful captain twin bed with storage for another $50! (such a score). The total for both pieces came out to $100 and I was ecstatic, a bed and a dresser for $100, talk about a steal! . The dresser before was plain brown wood with the same colored handles(in the pictures), my sister and I were obsessed with the handles so we just screwed them off and kept them the same. I adored the color of the spray paint as soon as I saw it on the shelf( I enjoy teals, mints, and blues), I think each can is a little over $3. For both my bed and the dresser I think we used at least 10-12 cans. You will need a good amount of paint to make sure everything is fairly even and smooth. We sanded both pieces for hours, primed, and painted, it was a long two days filled with many many breaks,(due to the desert heat) but in the end, it was completely worth it. I fell in love with my furniture!  Also, not to mention, I really do prefer this dresser over a plain, brand new, and costly piece that ultimately just blends in with the rest of the room, and is served as storage versus a statement piece that can brighten up or add detail to any room. Refurbishing a piece of furniture gives you the chance to create your own piece, something that you envision and love, you get to be the artist! You can paint your piece any color and do whatever you want with it. There is also no greater feeling then walking past your finished piece and seeing all the time and detail you put into it. You feel proud that you can recycle a piece that was lifeless and now it has life, color, and detail!  It may seem like a lot of time and work but if you want something that looks good, and don't want to spend the money, then what are you waiting for?!

Bright Colorful Refurbished Dresser! Cost $3.95

This dresser belonged to one of my old roommates who was moving away and didn't want to keep her old dresser any longer. I wish I kept the before pictures (accidentally deleted them) but she had previously spray painted it white without sanding it so the finish was messy and quite un even. Since she was basically throwing a way this great piece,I had to get my hands on the dresser to give it some life. Again sorry I don't have the before and after pictures but to give you a better idea it went from white paint, to being sanded down to pure wood, then a flat teal sample can of paint I bought that was made accidentally by Home Depot,(sometimes they accidentally make paint and will sell it at a very very cheap price) Glad I did because it was definitely a score.I used a regular old paint brush that I had, so this project was fairly easy for me.It's surprising what you can do with an old piece of furniture,a sander, and some paint.
